5 things in my outdoors backpack

If you’re planning on leaving for a fun trip outdoors, here are some tips on what should always be in your backpack.

I love living in the city. Even all of the parts that people are usually not so fond of – the city lights, huge groups of people, the noise. I am truly enjoying it but it doesn’t mean I don’t love being outdoors in nature.

It’s a thin line from being a city girl to being a country girl. Therefore I choose to be in the middle. From my outdoor adventures I’ve come to terms with things I always take with me and I wanted to share those here.

So here are my TOP 5 things that are always in my backpack when I am outdoors.

A reusable water bottle

It’s very important to be hydrated throughout the day – especially if you’re moving a lot. When I say I’m being outdoors, I mean I’m going to the park, being in the forest, riding boats and doing other fun things that include movement. That’s why the first thing in my backpack is always a water bottle.

Since I care about the environment, I always choose a reusable water bottle. In fact, I already have a collection of them in my home. My most important tip here is to use a water bottle that’s lightweight and of a good size.

A good example would be a stainless steel water bottle. They usually are pretty light and they keep your water cool throughout the whole day.

Check out my article My EQUA water bottle review and find out why this wasn’t a good water bottle to take with me outdoors.

SPF sunscreen

It’s recently come to my attention that you should always put on some SPF – both in summer and winter. Even if you can’t see the sun, it is always there and its rays can be harmful to your skin. Therefore a good SPF is now a thing I always carry around with me.

Especially if I am going on a trip or adventure that will make me be outside for hours upon hours. Remember that you have to reapply sunscreen every 3-4 hours. That’s why you can’t just do it in the morning and be all set for the day.

Besides, there are really convenient types of SPF to carry around. For example, an SPF powder. That way you can apply it even on makeup. Super easy!

A battery bank for my phone

battery bank

When I’m going to nature I usually go for peace, fresh mindset and new experiences. That mostly means that I won’t be using my phone all that much. I will for sure not spend my time outside scrolling through social media. What I will do instead is take a lot of photos and use navigation.

That can really drain the battery so to make sure I always have my phone charged, I take a battery bank with me everywhere I go. Especially in nature. In some cases having your phone can be critical.

You might have to use the navigation, call somebody for help, use a flashlight or any other of the million possibilities in which a phone can be useful.

Long lasting snacks

I can’t live on water the whole day so if I’m planning to go on a longer journey, I always plan to have a meal somewhere along the road. But besides that I also always have some snacks with me just in case.

Nothing can ruin your day more than feeling hungry and being without a way to get some food. That is why I prepare some snacks in advance – preferably some that give me energy.

To give you some ideas, my favorite options are nuts, energy balls and dried fruits.

Wet wipes for outdoors cleaning

And finally, I’ll give you truly practical advice – always have wet wipes with you. Surely the basic wipes will work just fine too, but wet wipes just make it so much easier.

Any time you’ll come across your hands being dirty (and it WILL happen a lot – you’re outdoors after all), wet wipes will make sure they’re clean again. They don’t take up much space and can be used for many things. Wet wipes can come in handy when you need to clean a seat for yourself, your table etc.

Hope you enjoyed my advice and found it useful!
